His Excellency Shaikh Khalid was earlier appointed as the Minister of Justice &Islamic Affairs in 2006 and was reappointed for the second time in 2014. He formerly served as the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice since in 2004 following his participation in several judicial development projects related to justice services from 1998 until 2003. He served as the Head of the Public Prosecution when it was established in 2003. He joined the Ministry of Justice in 1994 as a legal researcher and then worked in the field of international legal and judicial cooperation. He holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Cairo University, a Master's Degree in Public Law and Criminal Sciences from Cairo University and another Master's Degree in International Public Law from Nottingham University, UK. Additionally, His Excellency is the Chairman of the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He has participated in several UN conferences in the International Criminal Court, Human Rights and Dialogue among Civilizations. He also contributed to many international and regional conferences in the field of justice including criminal and international laws and human rights.
